So there you have it, folks… the Google PageRank update we’ve all been waiting for. Was it a good one for us? You bet! Most of our sites experienced an increase in PageRank. Of course, it can’t always be perfect. We suffered some decreases, as well, but that’s part of the PageRank game. Still, this PageRank update was more positive than negative for us. Thank you, Google!

On a side note, we didn’t get the PageRank that we were hoping for for page-rank-domains.com. Perhaps we started our link building efforts a little too late. Oh well, there’s always a next time. We’ll get it on the next PageRank update.

How about you? Was it a good PageRank update for you?

As usual, the Google forum on DigitalPoint is buzzing with excited Webmasters. Results are positive so far. Maybe Google will be more generous this time.

We’ll post another update when the first Google PageRank update of 2010 is over. For now, we’ll be chanting, “Gimme more green, gimme more green!”.

The Google forum on DigitalPoint is abuzz with prophecies and rumors that Google will update PageRank this week, probably within the next couple of days. At least that’s what the seers on DigitalPoint are saying. They might have a point though.

The last PR update happened on December 30, 2009, about three months ago. If the theory that some PageRank addicts are espousing that Google updates PageRank every three months is correct, then the next PR update must happen very soon.

If I remember correctly, Google updated PageRank on April Fool’s Day last year (that’s April 1, 2009 for those who are not familiar with April Fool’s Day). So that’s another possible day when the PR update might happen. But then again, PR updates usually happen on weekends (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday), so it might not happen on April 1 (Thursday).

Regardless of PageRank theories, rumors, and prophecies on DigitalPoint and other webmaster forums, the truth of the matter is we do not know when the PR update will happen. Only Google knows.

So until the actual PageRank update rolls in, we can all just sit tight and work on building backlinks to our sites with the hope that the next PR update will bring goods news to our beloved web sites.

So will Google update PageRank this week. We’ll have to see.

What do you think?

I know, it’s ironic. PageRank Domains has lost its PageRank.

The short version of the story is we lost the PageRank 3 that we worked hard to obtain last year. It was nobody’s fault but ours. We moved to new a web hosting company, we forgot to back up our content, and, after we couldn’t restore our old posts about PageRank, we posted a couple articles that were totally unrelated to PageRank. Now, we’re starting again.

It is important to note though that despite our loss of PageRank, we still ranking very well for the keywords
pagerank domains
. Does this prove that PageRank has nothing to do with search engine rankings? Maybe.

Back to our PageRank issue. How long will it take us to regain PageRank? Hopefully by the next PageRank update. We’ll update you as soon as there’s any PageRank movement on the site. Stay tuned.

A lot of people have been asking this question on forums and blogs. Sometimes, people ask, “Does changing nameservers affect SEO?”. Personally, I don’t believe changing nameservers or Web hosts affects PageRank, SERPs, or SEO. I do believe, though, that changing site content, especially a radical change to some unrelated topic, will affect your SEO efforts and SERPs. This was exactly what happened to PageRank Domains.

A couple of weeks ago, we started moving our Web sites to a new Web hosting provider. I thought we had already backed up everything — but I was wrong. When we restored the WordPress database for page-rank-domains.com, it was empty. I didn’t have time to write new posts for page-rank-domains.com, so we posted a couple of non-PageRank related articles (I was afraid we’d lose our PageRank 3 if I left the site empty for too long).

This morning, I remembered to check on this site. I checked the PageRank; it was still PageRank 3. And then, I checked the search engine positioning for the keywords “pagerank domains”. Alas! We were nowhere to be found! Before the Web hosting change, we were in the number one or number two position.

So there you have it — my own personal experience on nameserver changes. Again, it does not affect your PageRank or SERPs or SEO. But, if you change your site content to something unrelated, your SERPS and SEO will most likely suffer.

How do we fix it? I think I will do these:

Delete the unrelated content.

Write content that is related to the original topic – PageRank Domains.

I’ll start with this post. Now let’s see how long it will take for page-rank-domains.com to go back to the top position for the keywords “pagerank domains”. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
